The Schools were opened in 1883 with Handsworth sharing the Aston site before moving to its own present site in 1911. Since that time the two Camp Hill Schools have moved to Kings Heath and Five Ways School has moved to Bartley Green.
All of the King Edward VI Grammar Schools are free. Admission is by merit; only a sufficient mark in the 11+ entrance examination gives entry.
Each offers an outstanding all round education, setting high academic standards and consistently achieving top positions in national league tables. Pupils have opportunities to excel in a wide range of extra-curricular activities including sport, music and drama. Many pupils participate in these activities to the very highest level.
