Teacher Training
The King Edward's Consortium is a Recommending Body and trains teachers in the member schools. There are fourteen members in the Consortium, with the lead School being King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls.
The Scheme enables schools to employ teachers who are not yet qualified and to support them through a training programme leading to the individual gaining Qualified Teacher Status.
The programme suits mature graduates who can quickly take on teaching responsibilities and who need to earn a living while they train. They will frequently be over 24 years of age. Trainees currently earn approximately £14,391 pa during training.
People who have been through the scheme may qualify for the Government's scheme to pay off the student loans of teachers of secondary shortage subjects.
Our Training Centre is at the Resources Centre of the Schools of King Edward the Sixth in Birmingham.
